Life is uncertain. Thank God?!. In the beginning there was random energy and gradients. The rest is evolution. Biological evolution is three overlapping processes: rampantly overproduce with random variation, ruthlessly prune, and you and your shit are my bread and butter. Scientists use bodies of evidence to think outside the confining myths of authority. Extremists, frosted by seemingly imperfect selves, wrap their minds in moldy blankets of venerated pasts, and snuggle up to demagogues peddling lifeless legends of flawless futures. We are incomplete, not imperfect. It seems to me that being incomplete is superior to being perfect. Perfect is unchangeable, isolated, and static. We can change, cooperate, communicate, and grow. We can become. Every choice is a tradeoff, a compromise that, at best, yields benefits in exchange for losses. There are no free lunches.
